The Saskatchewan Home Energy Improvement Program (SHEIP) provides financial help for low- to moderate-income homeowners and rental property owners with low-income tenants to improve the energy efficiency of their properties.

The Saskatchewan Rental Housing Supplement provides extra money for lower-income families with children and people with disabilities to help with their rental costs in Saskatchewan.

There are two components to the Saskatchewan Rental Housing Supplement, the Family Rental Housing Supplement and the Disability Rental Housing Supplement. The supplement is conditional on the housing meeting minimum quality standards.

The Family Rental Housing Supplement is intended to improve access to quality shelter for lower-income families with children. Families living in rental accommodations receive a supplement based on family size, income and the community they live in.

The Disability Rental Housing Supplement is available to all rental households supporting a person with physical or cognitive disabilities. Physical supports such as ramps, support bars, etc. must already be in place to qualify for the supplement.

Applications for the Saskatchewan Rental Housing Supplement can be made over the phone by calling the Building Independence Contact Centre toll free at 1-888-488-6385 (In Regina 787-4723). TTY users should call 1-800-683-9052 (In Regina 787-1090).
