The government is supplying $7.5 million in the 2008-09 budget to provide a 15 per cent increase in foster care rates and an average rate increase of 41 per cent for extended family caregivers.

The Ministry of Social Services invests in positive outcomes for people in areas of income support, child and family services, supports for persons with disabilities and affordable housing. We work with citizens as they build better lives for themselves through economic independence, strong families and active involvement in the labour market and the community.
